What is a heating system? This is basically a technology developed for regulating temperatures to a level that is comfortable to you. Heating systems can either be centralized or distributed. Choosing the right heating system for you can be tricky so here is an overview of the different kinds of heating systems.
1. Traditional furnaces heating system.
The furnace basically draws air that is inside the house and then passes the air through a duct-work system where the air is warmed and then re-circulated back into the house.
The system originally makes use of wood as its fuel but gas, oil and electricity can be also used. The system is also works as a purifier where drawn air is filtered to remove dust and harmful particles. Temperatures can be regulated through an adjustable thermostat strategically placed in the house where it is accessible.
2. Electric heat pumps.
This kind of heating system works by pumping heat out of the cool area into a warmer area. In winter time, the system pumps heat into the home. Electric heat pumps work most efficiently in climates that are moderate, when temperature during summer time is not too hot and when winter time is not too cold. The system is known for being energy efficient. The system is similar to an air conditioner unit by dehumidifying the air indoors but the system proves to be more efficient in dehumidifying.
3. Space heaters.
This kind of heating system boasts of its feature being portable. They are used to either supplement the present heating system or actually replace other types of heating systems. Since the system is portable, you can place the device only in places where you only need warmth. This kind of system thus helps you save on gas and electricity bills
4. Steam Radiant.
Steam radiators are old, classic, but outdated. It is rarely used today because of its radiator being unsightly and the size of it hinders placement of furniture. Steam radiant system is advantageous in such a way that it quickly and efficiently warms the area.
This system has 2 kinds, the one-pipe and the two-pipe heating system. One-pipe systems works when water and steam go through the same pipe but their directions are opposite. On the other hand, two-pipe systems operate with steam flowing through one pipe and the water condensate goes back through the second pipe. Fuel sources may be propane, oil or electricity, or natural gas.
5. Radiant floor and or ceiling heaters.
Radiant floor or ceiling heating technology makes use of radiant energy strategically placed on the floor or ceiling to heat the area. The system actually provides heat towards the people and objects in the area instead of heating the surrounding air.
6. Hydronic home heating system.
This system makes use of hot water that flows through winding tubes beneath the floor. They resemble baseboard heaters. This system is being used to keep ice and snow from building up in the concrete.
There are indeed plenty of heaters to choose from. It is best to research each and every kind of heating systems out there so that you can make a wise decision.
